Kelsea Ballerini ‘Excited’ as ‘Dibs’ Climbs the Charts
It's good to be Kelsea Ballerini these days: The 22-year-old had a record-breaking debut single, "Love Me Like You Mean It;" made her debut performance on the Grand Ole Opry in February; and recently earned two CMA Awards nominations, for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. As Ballerini's second single, "Dibs," rapidly climbs the charts, the young singer admits that she hopes the song is as well received as her first single.
"It makes me really excited because "Love Me" was so well embraced, and it makes me excited to hopefully have the same thing happen with "Dibs,"" Ballerini tells The Boot. "[I'm] really excited and hopeful for it. It’s a little bit nerve-wracking though, because, No. 1, that’s all you can get. You can’t go plus that. But I’m really excited about "Dibs.""
For the week ending Sept. 26, "Dibs" was at No. 26 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, and at No. 29 on the Country Digital Songs chart.
Ballerini will be hitting the road with country duo Dan + Shay this fall, for a series of concerts dubbed the Just the Right Kind of Crazy Tour, and she couldn't be more excited about the trek.
"I love those boys," she gushes. "I feel we have the same kind of fan pool, so we’ll kind of just tap into it and rock out.
"It’s the first time we get to add lights and stuff to our show," she adds, "so we’re growing up a little."
Ballerini also hints she has other tour plans in the works, even though she can't reveal the details just yet.
"We have a tour we just locked in for the summer, which I’m stoked about," she divulges, "and then before and after that, I’m still figuring it out."
A list of all of Ballerini's upcoming shows is available on her website. Her debut album, The First Time, is available on iTunes or Amazon.
