Kasey Chambers’ ‘Storybook’ Album to Be Released in July

Australian-born singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers has led a storybook life as a multi-award-winning entertainer in her homeland and a successful export to the U.S. with such acclaimed albums as The Captain and Barricades and Brickwalls. On July 30, she'll release her latest collection, aptly titled Storybook, in the U.S. as an Amazon.com exclusive. The fifteen-song CD features tunes that inspired Kasey to become a musician.

"This album is a collection of songs and tributes to artists who have influenced me from when I was a small child up until now," says the 35-year-old, whose mother, Diane, and father, celebrated alt-country musician Bill Chambers, raised Kasey and older brother Nash on the rugged Nullarbor Plain in the Australian Outback, hunting foxes by day and singing around the campfire at night.

"I can honestly say that I would not be who I am today without the music from these incredible singer/songwriters and their inspiration," notes the singer.

Storybook features Kasey's soulful takes on original works by legends such as Gram Parsons ("Return of the Grievous Angel"), Hank Williams ("I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"), Lucinda Williams ("Happy Woman Blues"), Townes Van Zandt ("If I Needed You"), Gillian Welch ("Orphan Girl"), Cyndi Lauper ("True Colours"), Suzanne Vega ("Luka") and others.

Storybook is the musical accompaniment to Kasey's autobiography, "A Little Bird Told Me," which was recently published by Harper Collins in Australia.
