Kane Brown’s Debut Album Is Most Successful in Country Music in Two Years
Kane Brown's recently released self-titled debut album has become country music's most successful debut project in two years.
Released on Dec. 2, Kane Brown moved 51,000 units (45,000 in album sales) during its first week, earning the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and a Top 10 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200. Those numbers give Brown's debut disc the best debut for a new country artist since 2014, when Sam Hunt released Montevallo.
“I’m so grateful to all the fans, and to Dann Huff, Matt McVaney and the songwriters on the album, who helped me tell my story to the world through this record,” Brown says in a press release. “A No. 1 country album is a dream come true, made possible through the hard work of everyone involved.”
After signing with Sony Music Nashville’s RCA Nashville in late January, Brown found himself with a selection of songs that “mainly, they were pretty much about my life and how I grew up," he tells The Boot, "so we decided that that’s what we were gonna run with … just kinda write, like, an autobiography.” Seven of Kane Brown‘s 11 total tracks were co-written by Brown himself.
Brown is currently out on the road for his headlining Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour, and although he says he’s “very pumped” about everything he’s accomplished so far this year, he has something big to check off his to-do list in 2017.
“Having a hit at radio,” Brown says. “That’s my main goal right now.”
Kane Brown is available for purchase on iTunes, and details about Brown’s concert schedule are available on his website.
