Josh Thompson will take a break from his H2O touring schedule this weekend to head down to Destin, Fla., to perform with Lynyrd Skynyrd at the 'Rock the Beach' concert on Sunday (August 15). Josh will kick the night off at 6:00 PM on the beach behind the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island.

This marks the second year for the free concert series which is held to promote tourism in the area. Donations will be accepted throughout the evening, with proceeds benefiting the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge. The Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council and Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau hope the concert will bring another economic boost to the area to help offset the Gulf oil-spill crisis.

"Playing 'Rock the Beach' is exciting to me for two reasons," Josh says. "First, I have watched the news and seen the devastation that has been going on in the Gulf for months. To have the chance to be a part of something that will in some way, hopefully a big way, help with the recovery is amazing. And second ... I get to share a stage with Lynyrd Skynyrd! What can you say about that except 'awesome!'"

Josh will wrap up Brad Paisley's H2O tour, which also features Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, Easton Corbin and Steel Magnolia, in September. He won't have too much downtime at home, however. He's scheduled to hit the road with Hank Williams, Jr. on his Rowdy Friends tour, along with Jamey Johnson.

"It's a lot of work, but I expected that," Josh tells The Boot of his life as a country music star. "I embrace it, and I love it. I love being busy, and I love traveling. That's been kind of a surprise with the amount of traveling I do. But at the same time, it was an easy adjustment for me to make."

Josh's latest single, 'Way Out Here,' is currently in the Top 20 and climbing.
