Joe Nichols Prepares to Host ACM Honors
The 5th Annual ACM Honors are only a few hours away, and the star-studded list of performers and presenters at Monday night's show promises an unforgettable evening of music and tributes.
Hosted by Joe Nichols, the night will include performances by Rodney Atkins, Randy Houser, Jack Ingram, Jamey Johnson, Lee Ann Womack, Thompson Square, Montgomery Gentry, Dean Dillon, Larry Gatlin & the Galtin Brothers, the Whites and the Isaacs. Ronnie Dunn, Ralph Emery, the Oak Ridge Boys, Robin Meade, Brett Eldredge, Laura Bell Bundy and John Michael Montgomery will all be on hand to present the coveted awards.
Several iconic artists will receive tributes and trophies during the ceremony. Garth Brooks will take home the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award, Reba McEntire will receive the Career Achievement Award, Taylor Swift will take home the Jim Reeves International Award, and Tom T. Hall and Hank Cochran (posthumously) will receive the Poet's Award.
The annual ACM Honors, whose list of previous recipients includes Keith Urban, Mel Tillis, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, is a vital addition to the country music community, Joe asserts. "It's an opportunity to make an impact with the core of country music, a lot of the industry folks. It's a good way to honor some of the people I respect in the industry," he tells the Academy of Country Music. "Tom T. Hall and Garth and Reba, and of course, Hank Cochran. It's a great way to be visible and also honor my peers, and at the same time have a little bit of fun and show a little bit of my goofiness. Hopefully I'll wear pants that night, but I'm not sure. I haven't made up my mind."
The ACM Honors will be held at the Ryman Auditorium tonight (Sept. 19) at 7:00 PM CT. Tickets are still available and can be found here.
