Jo Dee Messina might still be putting the finishing touches on her upcoming album, but she isn't too busy to hit the road for a fall tour. The singer will perform a few shows in the United States this month before she kicks off her Canadian tour on Oct. 3.

"It's a little nerve wracking,"she admits to Billboard magazine. "It's totally going to depend on the public and my friends in radio. I really believe I have some good friends out there that can make a difference. I pray that they pull me through, because they're all I got!"

Messina's new album is being recorded thanks to her successful Kickstarter program, which raised more than $100,000 for the project. The 43-year-old admits it has been a daunting task to release an independent project, but says the risks have been more than worth it to be able to finally share her music with her fans.

"[It's] scary as crap," she concedes. "Being at the point where I was at, struggling to get music released, having a hard time completing albums, and seeing things on the same level with the team I was formerly with was so frustrating. So, to be able to do something that is so much fun and off the cuff is great."

Messina will play in Hawaii, California and Texas before she heads to Canada. See all of her concert dates below.
