"Jewel walks into a karaoke bar in a wig, butt padding and fake nose" sounds like the opening line of a bad joke, but what started as a prank has now become the basis for a new TV show.

The Associated Press reports that a pilot for 'Undercover Karaoke' has been ordered by cable network TBS. Funny or Die, the popular website co-founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, will contribute to the new series, which was inspired by the hilarious video in which Jewel, disguised as mild-mannered businesswoman "Karen," stuns the crowd at the Gas Lite karaoke bar in Santa Monica, Calif., by singing a spot-on version of her own hit, 'Who Will Save Your Soul.'

The clip, which was first featured on the Funny or Die website, has now been viewed more than 3.3 million times. [Watch it below.]

Jewel isn't the only country artist who has pulled one over on unsuspecting bar patrons. This past summer, Jimmy Wayne took a break from his Meet Me Halfway walk across America to enter a karaoke contest under the name "Barry Wong." Wearing a black cowboy hat, pink tank top and ski goggles, "Barry" belted out a Brooks & Dunn number for the crowd.
