Jason Aldean is getting ready to release his first concert DVD, 'Wide Open Live & More,' next Tuesday (Aug. 25), and that got us wondering what the singer does to get ready for his live show each night.

"My band and I just make sure we're hanging out on the bus or in the dressing room about half-an-hour before the show," Jason tells The Boot. "We crank a little music and maybe have a pre-show drink, then we're ready to go."

While Jason's favorite pre-show libation is Crown and 7 (that's a blend Crown Royal Whisky and 7-Up, for the uninitiated), the music that you're likely to hear while the band gears up to play is also a unique blend -- of hip-hop, rock and country.

"You might hear Snoop Dogg, then U2, then Hank [Williams] Jr., then Guns n' Roses. You never know," says Jason.

Jason also says he learned a lot about how to put on a live show from supergroup Alabama. In the past, he has jokingly referred to himself as a "super fan, almost borderline stalker" of the group, but at five years old, during the group's 40 Hour Week Tour, he sat in the audience at an Alabama concert in Washington, D.C., and took note of everything they were doing on stage. He also paid close attention to the crowd.

"People were crazy because that's when Alabama was at its peak, right there," he says. "They were huge. Just to be there and see that going on, I think it had a huge impact on me."
