Jake Owen's latest single, 'Tell Me,' is already climbing the charts. But while the singer wrote the song as a way to cope with dating issues with his on-again, off-again girlfriend, the video ended up telling an entirely different story.

"I told [video director Mason Dixon] when I made the video, I said, 'I gotta tell you man, I wrote this song about a relationship that I'm in, have been in, but when I wrote it nothing that your video portrays is anything what I thought the song was like," Jake tells Sioux Falls station KIKN. "I read his script and realized that it doesn't matter what a song is about that you write, it's about how people interpret it, and the way he interpreted it was something that needed to be said and done, and so we did it and it takes this song to a totally different world."

Comparing the video, in which he plays both a good guy and a bad guy, to an episode of the TV show, 'Lost,' Jake says he is "thrilled" with the finished product. In fact, his acting skills in the video have inspired the ACM winner to spend more time in front of the camera.

His theatrical debut may have to wait a while. In addition to performing at the upcoming CMA Music Fest, he has been busy performing several dates on three different tours -- Sugarland's Incredible Machine tour, Miranda Lambert's Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour and Jason Aldean's Wide Open tour. He's also back in the studio working on the follow up to his sophomore album, 'Easy Does It.'
