In a heartfelt letter to her fans, posted to her social media accounts on Friday morning (April 22), Hillary Scott announced the release of a brand-new single, "Thy Will."

"This is about a really recent thing that I went through," the Lady Antebellum member explained to The Boot and other reporters of the song's powerful message. "I think there's times in our life when we ask, 'Why is this happening? Why did that have to happen to someone else?' For me, because I grew up with faith being such a huge part of my life, I've always known and prayed and trusted that, no matter what, I know that there's someone looking out for me, who can save me, who hears me, in the darkest and brightest moments in life."

Although the singer acknowledges that a very personal -- and painful -- trial inspired her to pen the words to "Thy Will," she is keeping those details to herself, at least for now.

"I'm holding it close because I want people to have a chance to hear it, and not hear it through my story," Scott shares. "I want everyone to hear it through theirs ... Even just through writing this and it now being out, I've gained so much healing through what I've been through.

"I'm hearing so many stories about what other people have been through," she adds. "I feel like I'm not supposed to share my part yet, until others have been given the opportunity to put their own lives into the words."

In her note to fans, Scott writes, "This song is my letter to God. As I ask some really hard questions, I hold onto the truth that there is so much to the story of my life that I can't see, but that I still choose to trust Him."

Fans can read Scott's full letter above. In the note, Scott also announces that she, her younger sister Rylee and their parents, Linda Davis and Lang Scott, have recorded a faith-based album, Love Remains. The project, which does not yet have a release date, was produced by Ricky Skaggs.

Scott will be spending her summer on the road with her Lady A bandmates, performing at numerous festivals and casinos. Prior to beginning their summer tour, Lady Antebellum will sing the National Anthem at the Kentucky Derby on May 7.
