Rising country duo High Valley scored one of the opening slots on Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's upcoming 2017 Soul2Soul Tour and will join the country superstars for three shows on June 15, 16 and 17. For siblings Brad and Curtis Rempel, who have been building up their fan base for years, the chance to get in front of so many potential new fans at once is a dream come true.

"I feel like their reach is so broad, from movies and TV and obviously their massive career in country music, both of them," Brad Rempel tells The Boot. "Some won’t be as hardcore country fans, but others, we think, are going to like our flavor of country."

The Rempels learned that they'd landed their gig with McGraw and Hill weeks before the couple officially announced their opening acts. Keeping that secret, Rempel admits, "was tough."

"We really wanted to [tell everyone]," he says. "We’re very into social media and letting our fans know everything, and it sucked to not be able to say anything about it. But when we did, people freaked out about it."

Now that the big shows are approaching, though, High Valley are remaining calm.

"I’ll start getting nervous about 30 seconds before I have to run onstage," Curtis Rempel says. Quips his brother, "We have so many other things to be nervous about first."

"The cool thing about being an opening act is, people expect you to suck, and I love the challenge," Brad Rempel continues. "My favorite part of this industry is when you can walk out as an opening act, people think you’re going to suck, you can get them to laugh, cry, have fun, be nostalgic, all in 30 minutes. Then they’re actually meeting you at your merch table and buying your stuff and getting an autograph ... That’s my favorite."

Those interactions, shortly after High Valley have converted concertgoers into new fans, can be amusing, the brothers say.

"They come and say, ‘I never heard of you. I’m sorry,'" Brad Rempel explains. "People always apologize, like we’re going to be mad at them."

In addition to their Soul2Soul Tour dates, High Valley will also play plenty of fairs and festivals over the next few months. A list of all of their upcoming shows is available on their website.

The Soul2Soul Tour is scheduled to begin on April 7 in New Orleans, La. Other artists opening for McGraw and Hill during the trek include the Brothers Osborne, Seth Ennis, Jon Pardi, Chris Lane, Midland, Caitlyn Smith, Charlie Worsham, Lori McKenna, Rhiannon Giddens, Devon Dawson, Maggie Rose, Natalie Hemby, Brent Cobb, Eric Paslay, Brandy Clark, Cam, Chris Janson, Steve Moakler, LoCashMargo Price and more.
