Hannah May Allison, ‘Summer Sucks’ [Exclusive Premiere]

Singer-songwriter Hannah May Allison is premiering her new song "Summer Sucks" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

Written in a nostalgic tone about happier summer days gone by, "Summer Sucks" is a twist on the typical summer anthem. The song is about experiencing what are supposed to be fun-filled months of the year without the person you love, and how it just isn't as great spending a weekend at the lake or an afternoon by the pool when you're heartbroken.

"I used to love a poolside playlist / Now I can't take it," Allison sings in the song's chorus. "I don't want to be at a beach, on a boat, in the heat, at the lake / Nowhere close to a coast / I hate that I hate all these things that I used to love / Since we broke up, summer sucks."

Allison wrote "Summer Sucks" with Casey Cattie, Lauren McLamb and John Miller. Ken Baumann produced the song.

California born and now based in Nashville, Allison brings a West Coast influence and a fun, pop-country vibe to her music; she's a solid addition to a playlist for fans of Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini and Runaway June. Allison got her love of country music from her mother -- a Kansas-raised singer -- and moved to Music City right after high school graduation.
