Garth Brooks' World Tour has been setting records all over the country since it kicked off last fall, so it's not surprising that Brooks would be nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the 2015 ACM Awards -- except maybe to Brooks himself.

"When they were giving out nominations for the ACMs, this tour was two or three months old. That's a sweet nod," Brooks told The Boot and other media at a recent press conference in Buffalo, N.Y. "So whether you win or not, it's like, can't believe you're in it, so it feels cool."

Brooks was last nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards in 2002, when the trophy ended up going to Brooks & Dunn. In total, Brooks has been named Entertainer of the Year six times; his last win was in 1999. If Brooks wins this year, he will have had a 16-year gap between victories in the category.

"You know, you look back, and you try to go, wow, how long has it been in between since people have won it? I think [George] Strait went 18 years between winning it one year. Strait always has all the records, all the cool stuff. So, you know, he has shown us that it is possible," Brooks says. "But the truth is, it's like Miss [Trisha] Yearwood said, we're going to go there, feel very lucky to be there. We're going to enjoy the experience."

Brooks and Yearwood are hitting tour stops in Denver, Colo., Sacramento, Calif., and Portland, Ore., before the ACMs; a complete, updated list of shows can be found here. Prior to the awards show, the couple is set to host the "One Night, Two Cities, All Music" fundraising gala to benefit ACM Lifting Lives.

The 50th ACM Awards will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on April 19 at 8PM ET on CBS.
