Reba McEntireAs kids, most of us don't think the advice we get from our parents has any merit to it. Once we are a little older, we realize how smart our mom and dad really were! Sunday is Father's Day and The Boot had the opportunity to get a few comments from different artists about advice they received from their father, along with some of their own personal joys of being a dad.

Reba McEntire says her dad was initially confused by her first chosen career. "Daddy always said he couldn't understand why I wanted to do something I wasn't good at, which was rodeoing. It always aggravated him because he thought I had something a little different in my singing. So I guess the best advice for me was to quit rodeoing and stick with my singing!"

Justin Moore became a first-time dad a few months ago, to daughter Ella Kole. "It's crazy how it changes your whole method of thinking on everything, being a dad. People can tell you that until you're blue in the face. Until you're actually holding your daughter or your son, you don't realize it, but it's really cool. My dad actually told me I was going to be a dad last Father's Day when I got off the road. It's cool to see how things have changed since last year at this time.

Randy Houser's advice from his dad was simple. "'Life is too short to dance with ugly women.' It's kind of sad but that's what he told me."

Darius RuckerDarius Rucker insists there is no best part about being a dad. "Everything's great about being a dad. I even like the bad parts. I was that guy who didn't think much about it but then when it happened, God gave me this voice to sing but he put me on earth to be a dad and I love it."

As young siblings, the Band Perry learned early on that getting along would be helpful later on. "I remember when we were kids -- and this has come in handy since we now travel together as adults -- [our parents] would always carry us to the window when we got into sibling fights and say, 'See that out there? That's a big world, and you're gonna have to fight through it every day. We're not gonna fight here in this house. Be gracious to one another.' We try to follow that. But after 14 hours on the road, it's funny how we can revert back to those kids growing up."

Josh Turner reflects on the example his father set for him. "He was just always even-keeled as far as his emotions go. He treated everybody the same. He was such a diplomat, but he always spoke his mind about things. And he was a great leader, he was a great husband and a great father to me and my brother and my sister. And he always tried to be happy and to be positive about things, no matter how far down we got."

Trace Adkins obviously keeps his sense of humor when asked what the best part of fatherhood is for him. "Hearing little feet running through the house -- there's so many things. Just the tricks you get to play on them over and over again because they're not smart enough to figure it out; the lies I get to tell them that they believe." (It should be noted that Trace's wife, Rhonda, was standing near the singer when he answered the question and immediately chided him for his comments!)
