Emily Hackett Performs ‘Once in a While’ ‘Live at the Church’ [Exclusive Premiere]
Nashville singer-songwriter Emily Hackett filmed a special performance of her song "Once in a While" at her home church in Nashville, and she's giving The Boot's readers an exclusive first look at the stunning clip. Readers can press play above to watch.
For this performance of "Once in a While," Hackett's smoky, subdued timbre is paired with a string quartet. The strings add a beautiful sense of drama to the song, which offers a sobered look back at a relationship that's gone south.
"I moved on with my life / I'd like to think you're doing alright," Hackett sings in the chorus of "Once in a While." "The smell of cheap red wine, the hint of day-old smoke brings you to mind / Once in a while."
Born and raised in Atlanta, Ga., Hackett brings her Southern roots to her authentic blend of honest songwriting, soulful instrumentals and a healthy dose of outlaw attitude. After earning YouTube fame (and more than half a million views!) for her acoustic cover of Lorde's pop hit "Royals" in 2013, Hackett has gone on to perform her own music alongside artists such as Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Rascal Flatts.
Hackett is set to perform at New York City's Rockwood Music Hall on Jan. 28. Fans can find information about that show and others, and keep up with Hackett's goings-on, at EmilyHackett.com.
