Emerson Drive is celebrating five Canadian Country Music Award nominations -- two for the band and three for individual members in the instrumental categories.

"It feels great to be nominated again this year in the group category," lead singer Brad Mates tells GAC. "Each year, we are excited to go back home and catch up with our fellow artists and, of course, the fans."

The 2008 CCMA nominations were announced Wednesday, with Jessie Farrell leading the pack with seven nods. Terri Clark, who is hosting the show, will compete with Farell, Crystal Shawanda, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Lisa Brokop for Female Artist of the Year. Paul Brandt, George Canyon, Johnny Reid, Deric Ruttan and Shane Yellowbird will battle it out for Male Artist of the Year.

Five American singers are in the running for Top Selling Album: Carrie Underwood's 'Carnival Ride,' Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' 'Raising Sand,' Reba McEntire's 'Reba Duets,' Taylor Swift's self-titled debut album and Garth Brooks' 'The Ultimate Hits.'

Emerson Drive and Dierks Bentley are among the performers slated for the September 8 show. The CCMA Awards will be broadcast live on CBC Television with encore broadcasts on CMT. Click here for a full list of this year's nominees.
