Dolly Parton Comes to Defense of Heidi Montag
Dolly Parton has always been completely honest about the fact that she has gone under the knife multiple times to improve her appearance. Now, with the recent media storm swirling regarding 'The Hills' star Heidi Montag's astonishing 10 plastic surgeries in one day, Dolly says the 23-year old star should be left alone.
"Oh, I probably would have done it when I was that age if I could have afforded it and thought I needed it," she admits to Access Hollywood.
The singer goes on to say that it's better be honest about things than leave her fans in the dark. "People want to know," she continues. "If you ask me about it, I'd rather tell you ... I'd rather you think I had plastic surgery than to think I was a liar."
Heidi isn't the only young star Dolly is defending. A staunch defender of the much-maligned Jessica Simpson, Dolly explains why cruel tabloid comments targeted toward the singer-actress were particularly painful.
"It hurts me," she admits. "In fact, I have defended Jessica so many times, because I get so mad. I think, 'You don't even know her! ... And who has such a right to be so cruel and mean? They just seem to want to hurt her for whatever their reasons are. I've been made fun of enough in my lifetime, especially when I was a child ... It hurts and I know it hurts anybody."
Already a singer, author and actress, Dolly recently added 'shop owner' to her resume, opening her store Trinkets and Treasures in Nashville earlier this month.
