Written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, "Little Sister" was recorded by Presley in 1961 and hit No. 5 on the U.S. pop charts that year. The tune would later be recorded by Dwight Yoakam, Robert Plant, the Nighthawks and even Pearl Jam.
Hosted by Blake Shelton (who also performed), the Elvis All-Star Tribute TV special also included performances from Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, and the Pistol Annies. The show, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Presley's famed '68 Comeback Special, aired Sunday night (Feb. 17) on NBC.
Footage of Presley from his '68 Comeback Special played between star-studded performances throughout the show. Outside of the country music genre, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran and more stars helped pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.
During the show, the audience was also treated to a showcase of rare footage and interviews with Presley's widow, Priscilla Presley, along with Steve Binder, who was the director of the original special. The iconic performer's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, also made an appearance.
