Darius Rucker will be playing Santa Claus to dozens of children who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. The singer-songwriter has partnered with digital media company Eventful, to allow his fans to "demand" the city where he will donate $10,000 worth of toys with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Using social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, fans picked Lindenhurst, N.Y., an area that faced severe devastation from October's deadly storm.

"To see all these fans come together and 'Demand' their votes be counted in an area devastated by Hurricane Sandy is just incredible," Darius says. "It never ceases to amaze me how caring country music fans are in helping others, and together we'll be making the holidays happier for families who really need the help."

"We are thrilled our 'Demand it!' service united people and gave them the opportunity to give back to those communities affected by Hurricane Sandy," Jordan Glazier, CEO of Eventful, adds. "We're proud to be working with Darius and Universal Music Group Nashville on this special holiday giving campaign to benefit children."

More than 30,000 fans from 3,028 cities voted as part of Eventful's "Demand it!" program. Darius will head to Lindenhurst's local Toys 'R' Us store on Monday morning, Dec. 17, to shop for the toys. He will then join the U.S. Marines in loading the Toys for Tots truck, which will disperse the goodies to local agencies throughout the city.

Darius isn't the only country music superstar who is helping children affected by the hurricane have a merry Christmas. Kenny Rogers recently announced he would host a toy drive, as well as match cash donations, for residents of Englewood, N.J.

Darius has several other charitable endeavors including supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Pattinson's Academy with OneHope wine. His next CD, True Believers, will hit shelves in the spring.
