The Oak Ridge Boys traveled last week to galaxies they had never explored before -- the Nashville Film Festival. They attended the event at the invitation of actor William Shatner, who held the world premiere of his documentary 'William Shatner's Gonzo Ballet' at the week-long festival.

"We're all 'Star Trek' fans," Oakridge Boy Joe Bonsall admitted to The Boot, adding, "Isn't everyone?"

The Boot caught up with Bonsall a few days later to see what he thought of the documentary. "It seemed to come from his heart," he said of Shatner. "I enjoyed hearing the creative process of how the choreographer heard his music on NPR and got the idea from that to do a ballet ... I love the creative process, whether it's a song, book or story. To hear how he came up with the poetry and song ideas and then it became a ballet was fascinating to me."

Shatner was thrilled to be in Nashville but a little disappointed that his pal Brad Paisley was unable to be at the premiere. Paisley was supposed to introduce the documentary to the festival audience that evening but his wife Kimberly had their baby, Jasper Warren, earlier in the afternoon.

"We had dinner with them last night, and her contractions were six minutes apart," Shatner revealed to The Boot. "I'm thrilled for them."

Of his documentary, Shatner shared that he hoped folks who watched it found the film entertaining. When asked about the upcoming 'Star Trek' movie, due in theaters May 7, the actor joked, "Can you believe they didn't ask me to be in it?"

He quickly added that he had not seen it but that he was hosting the entire cast at his 19th annual Hollywood Charity Horse Show on April 25. The event benefits Ahead with Horses and Camp Max Strauss, both of which support programs for children. Shatner is using all his country connections this month -- Willie Nelson is scheduled to perform at the charity event on Saturday.
