Plenty of pop, rock and other-genre artists and movie stars have both successfully and unsuccessfully tried their hands at careers in country music. Justin Timberlake has some street cred, so to speak, following that mind-blowing performance at the 2015 CMA Awards, and Kelly Clarkson has pretty seamlessly jumped between country and pop throughout her career ... but some acts' endeavors are better off forgotten.

Jessica Simpson played Daisy Duke well -- but her country album was much less of a success. It's a period in her career that she likely doesn't remember fondly, especially because she was booed offstage. Simpson's got a great voice, but pop music just works better for her.

If we're talking actors and actresses, Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow have all given country music a go. You'd think such big stars wouldn't be afraid of an audience -- but Paltrow looks pretty darn scared onstage in the clip in the above video.

Press play on the video above to recall six of the most forgettable country crossovers. Garth Brooks even makes the list; we all know how that whole Chris Gaines experiment ended.
