Chris Young surprised the crowd at a Nashville School of the Arts NSA Presents event with two checks for the school.

Young was scheduled as the special guest at the event, where he shared insights into his career and discussed how music education had an impact on his path to success. At the opening of his Q & A session, Young surprised the crown with $30,000 in checks, $5,000 of which was from his fan club.

“For me, arts awareness is one of the first things that gets pushed aside," Young tells MusicRow. "But the arts are such a big growth area for kids, whether they want a career in it or not. And they don’t know until they are exposed to it and have a chance to find out. It’s something I’m very passionate about.”

NSA is Metro Nashville Public Schools' only arts magnet school. Previous artists to participate in NSA Presents include Janelle Monae, Chip Esten and Ruby Amanfu.

Young recently released his newest single 'Lonely Eyes' off of his album 'A.M.' The single and the entire album are available for digital download from iTunes and Amazon.
