Chris Young Shares New Song, ‘I Know a Guy’, Through Lyric Video
If you need your car towed or a part-time job, Chris Young knows a guy. He sings about this -- and lots more -- in his newly released song "I Know a Guy."
You wouldn't know it by listening to the first verse, but this new tune is extremely hard hitting and confessional. It's about more than helping someone out; it's about the failures and regrets of a man who messed up big time and lost the one he loves. He knows now what he's missing, and he points to himself as the guilty one, the one who didn't listen.
"I Know a Guy" starts out simply: "If you need your car towed / If that Volkswagen breaks down / On the way out of this town / I know a guy / I'll make a few calls," Young sings. "If you need something part-time / 'Til you're back on your feet / I know a guy."
But then the song turns a corner -- and the intensity of Young's voice raises a few notches as he confesses, "And if you're looking for someone / Barely hanging on / Lost the only thing / That he ever loved / Wishing you would come over / Give anything just to hold ya / If you're trying to find a man / Who lost his mind / Doesn't sleep at night / Unless he's dreaming 'bout you / Laying right here beside him / Praying someday you might / Feel like forgiving / And think about giving him / One more try / I know a guy."
Young's lyric video for "I Know a Guy" is simple -- because with a vocal performance like his and the high emotional content in the track, simple is all you need.
The singer's fifth studio record, I'm Comin' Over, is scheduled to drop on Nov. 13. He revealed the title track in May, and he's also shared his talked-about duet with Cassadee Pope, "Think of You." I’m Comin’ Over is available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes, and fans who pre-order on iTunes will receive the three previously mentioned songs as instant downloads.
