Chris Stapleton won Best Country Solo Performance, for the song "Traveller," at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

Stapleton accepted the award in the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony amid adoring cheers from the crowd. "I love you too," he said to a particularly effusive fan.

"I've never had one of these, and that's amazing," the Traveller creator said. "I've been siting out in this audience a couple different times. Third time's the charm."

Stapleton went on to thank his wife, his band, his label and "the great Dave Cobb," his producer. As at the 2015 CMA Awards, he seemed at a loss for words near the end of his brief speech.

"I don't know what to say," Stapleton admitted. "Thank you very much. I appreciate it."

Stapleton is also nominated for Album of the Year, for Traveller, and Best New Artist, both of which will be handed out during the main Grammy Awards telecast.

Other Best Country Solo Performance nominees included Cam's “Burning House,” Carrie Underwood's "Little Toy Guns," Keith Urban's “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" and Lee Ann Womack's "Chances Are."
