Chase Rice has released a brand-new song, entitled "Whisper."

Rice's new single begins quite literally, with a "Shhhh!" -- but it doesn't stay quiet for long. Press play on the video below to hear the tune, co-written by Rice, Chris DeStefano and Jon Nite and co-produced by Rice.

"Whisper" is the first taste of Rice's eagerly anticipated new record, which will be released via Columbia Nashville / Dack Janiels Records as the follow-up project to Ignite the Night. The singer, who is excited to introduce his new music to his fans, is known for his often seductive lyrics, and "Whisper" is no exception (though it's certainly toned down from "Ride").

Ignite the Night was great for us, and it opened a lot of doors, both creatively and professionally,” Rice says in a press release. “This new album is still going to have some of those songs, songs that make people want to get up and dance and party at a show, but it also takes fans on our journey with us and has a lot more depth musically because of what I see our fans craving online and at our shows."

The North Carolina native and former linebacker believes that his writing abilities have changed since his 2014 record.

"Personally, I believe my writing has evolved since we put out the last album, and it's been a hell of a ride so far, so this one will have a more mature sound to it," Rice explains. ""Whisper" is an example of that, having some of those different production elements that push the music beyond where we’ve been before.”

Rice's 2016 is off to a good start: He's nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 ACM Awards, along with Brett Eldredge, Chris Janson, Thomas Rhett and Chris Stapleton.

“Whisper" is available at digital retailers now.
