Carrie UnderwoodMany of Carrie Underwood's music videos, including her latest for the No. 1 hit, 'Cowboy Casanova,' showcases the singer playing various roles and sporting many costume changes -- albeit not as many as she did while co-hosting the CMA Awards recently).

Carrie enjoys the extensive preparation that goes into making the videos, and really enjoys the opportunity to become someone else, if only for a few hours.

"It's like putting on a mask - like you're in a Halloween costume or something," Carrie tells GAC. "You're like this other person. Dressing the part really makes you feel a certain way. It is playing a character. It's definitely another extension of myself."

Carrie says she's still intrigued by fellow artists who become that "other person" and how easily they leave it behind when coming off the stage. "When I was on the road with Kenny Chesney, he gets onstage and he's talking to people and he's running around and he's waving his hands in the air. It's crazy! And then you talk to him one-on-one and he's a person. It's like 'oh my gosh! Who is this? What is going on here?' I'm learning how to access that and learning how to let loose. I feel like I get better and better. I can enjoy it more when I feel so comfortable onstage."

Carrie's also getting comfortable on the charts, with the No. 1 success of her single. 'Cowboy Casanova,' and her latest album, 'Play On.'
