Chances are pretty good that Carrie Underwood won't ever have to look for another job, but if she does, she has proven she also has talents behind the news desk. The songstress, who has a degree in mass communications, filled in as a news anchor on Monday (Aug. 12) on the set of 'Good Morning America.'

"I’m a little nervous, but I’m good. I’m ready,” Underwood admitted, before launching into the 'Pop News Heat Index' segment, discussing movie star Jennifer Lawrence, kids going back to school, and how a university in Canada provided a room full of puppies for students as a stress-reliever during finals week.

“I thought we could use something like this. I’ve noticed that it’s busy, it’s stressful here,” the 'See You Again' singer joked, as she was handed an adorable little pup, as were the morning's anchors Lara Spencer, George Stephanopoulos, Josh Elliot and Ginger Zee. The camera panned to show the studio filled with puppies, being held by camera operators and other behind-the-scenes staff.

The Oklahoma native also discussed her multi-city Blown Away tour, raising money for flood relief, traveling with her own menagerie of dogs, and her marriage to professional hockey player Mike Fisher. On top of that, she participated in a game of Name That Tune with Spencer and Stephanopoulos.

Underwood may have spent some time looking for a place to live while in the Big Apple. The songstress recently revealed she would be spending a few months in NYC while rehearsing for her live performance in 'The Sound of Music.' The show, which features Underwood as Maria von Trapp, will air on NBC on Dec. 5.
