Carrie Underwood has announced some preliminary details about her brand-new album.

Underwood's new project will be called Storyteller, and it is set for release on Oct. 23. The singer revealed the information, along with some details about the record's lead single, "Smoke Break," in a Facebook chat on Thursday (Aug. 20). It is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Underwood has been talking for a while about a different sound on this record, which will be the follow-up to 2012's Blown Away.

“There’s definitely a different sound that’s coming together,” Underwood reveals. “I want everything to have its own space and look different, sound different, feel different. So I’ve been working with another producer, as well as with Mark Bright, who I’m always gonna love, but getting things a little different, and it’s been fun.

“I feel things have a different sort of twang to them, kind of a rock twang,” she adds. “So there should be some things that [fans] hopefully have liked about the music we’ve done, but also a little growth, a little bit of shift, so still things they’ve liked but new things to see, hear and feel.”

During the time between Blown Away and Storyteller, Underwood did something huge: She had a baby. And while she's still the bona fide superstar she's always been, her new son Isaiah has been an influence on her new music.

“I kind of tried to stay away from [writing a song about Isaiah]. I didn’t want to force anything or have anything be cheesy or weird, like, ‘Oh, she had a baby, so she’s singing about her baby,'" Underwood says. "It just kind of happened one day.”

While there are still many details of Underwood's new album that will be revealed between now and its October release, the singer is clear that it will show off a new style.

“There are some things on there that are definitely familiar, but there’s a lot of growth that has happened, as well," she explains. "It’s going to sound a little bit different — still the things that fans will obviously know is me. I’m not going crazy or anything, but it’s a little bit of a shift.”
