Bucky Covington is joining several 'American Idol' alumni -- and fellow Nashville residents -- to participate in a nationwide day of service, as part of the annual 'Idol Gives Back' series. Held on April 21, the former contestants will donate their time at a local food bank, to coincide with a special 'AI' episode that will air that evening.

Joining Bucky for the worthwhile cause will be Phil Stacey, Mandisa, Melinda Doolittle and Bo Bice. Other 'Idol' cast members offering their service at various charities across the country throughout the week include Elliott Yamin, Kimberly Locke, Diana DeGarmo, Ruben Studdard and Danny Gokey.

The special two-hour broadcast will raise money for several charities, including the Children's Health Fund and Feeding America. Season four winner Carrie Underwood will perform during the evening's live show. In addition to Carrie, other artists scheduled to appear include Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Josh Groban and Annie Lenox.
