Bucky Covington and Fiancee Welcome Baby Girl

Bucky Covington is a proud papa! He and his fiancee Katherine Cook welcomed a baby girl, Kennedy Taylor Covington, on Friday (Oct. 10).

Covington's first child, little Kennedy Taylor is 18 inches long and weighs 6 pounds, 12 ounces.

“We are beyond excited to start our life as a family and can't wait to see what adventures this little blessing has in store for us,” Covington tells People. “The nursery is done, the bags were packed and I googled how to get to the hospital. This parenthood thing is pretty easy so far!"

The former ‘American Idol‘ contestant and Cook, a publicist with Nashville-based Monarch Publicity, announced the pregnancy in February. They met in 2007 and have been engaged since 2010.

“Katherine came and threw a pregnancy test in front of me -- three of them actually -- and they all said the same thing. The only problem was, I didn’t know what they were! I was like, ‘What is this? Are you okay?’” Covington said at the time. “So she told me and I got so excited!”

After placing in the Top 10 on Season 5 of 'Idol,' Covington released a self-titled album that became the top-selling debut by any country artist in 2007. It went to No. 1 and had three Top 10 singles.
