After putting out two albums through record labels, Bucky Covington has released the debut single, 'Buzzin,' from his upcoming album, which will mark his first venture as an independent artist.

The North Carolina native produced the track with Dale Oliver, who is co-producing the entire project with him. Fans won't have to wait too long to hear new tunes. The former 'American Idol' contestant will release an album of brand-new music this fall.

Covington has a busy 2014 planned. In addition to performing songs from the new record, he and his fiancee, Katherine Cook, will welcome their first child together later this year.

“Katherine came and threw a pregnancy test in front of me -- three of them actually -- and they all said the same thing. The only problem was I didn’t know what they were! I was like, ‘What is this? Are you okay?’” he recalls. “So she told me and I got so excited!”

The singer-songwriter will have to juggle putting the finishing touches on the new record with his busy touring schedule over the next few months, including a show at Nashville's CMA Music Fest in June. See a list of all of his upcoming shows here.
