Billy Currington has made female fans swoon with sexy, soulful tunes such as 'Must Be Doin' Something Right' and 'Let Me Down Easy,' so it's no surprise the singer-songwriter has plans to someday record an entire album of soul music.

"I want to get together with someone like a Babyface [and] just to do it," Billy tells ABC News Radio of his desire to explore more of his R&B-influenced side. "I was dreaming that when I was dreaming of being in the country music industry at the same time as a little kid ... I'm gonna make it happen."

The Georgia native, who has also enjoyed chart-topping success with more traditional country hits like 'That's How Country Boys Roll' and 'Pretty Good at Drinking Beer,' already has a short list of possibilities for the new project, including 'Georgia on My Mind' and 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours).'

The tunesmith says his affection for the genre was developed from an early age as he strolled the streets of downtown Savannah, Ga. "There's a place called the Bayou on River Street, where a lot of soul music comes out of, all types of music in there," Billy recalls to The Boot. "I remember as a kid walking by -- that's all I could do is walk by and stand out there and listen, and knowing one day I wanted to go in there and get a little closer to that music. I was so connected to it down there. And through radio, a big part of why I started singing soul music, listening to all those stations down there in my bedroom with artists like Luther Vandross and Patti LaBelle."

Billy hasn't revealed a timetable for the soul project. His current single, 'Love Done Gone,' from the album 'Enjoy Yourself,' is in the Top 20. He's on the road with Kenny Chesney's Goin' Coastal tour. Keep track of his concert schedule here.
