2019 Billboard Music Awards: The Country Winners
Headed into the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, Dan + Shay were the most-nominated country act, but Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney only took home one trophy on Wednesday night (May 1). Rather, Luke Combs was country music's biggest winner at the all-genre awards show.
Combs was named Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Country Album. The only country award to be presented during the televised 2019 Billboard Music Awards, Top Country Song, meanwhile, went to Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha's "Meant to Be" and made FGL the first act to win that award three times.
"This is bucket list for us, y'all," Brian Kelley said during the pair's acceptance speech. Tyler Hubbard, meanwhile, encouraged artists to use their platforms to support causes they care about.
A complete list of country Billboard Music Awards categories and their nominees and winners is below. Nominees and winners at the Billboard Music Awards are selected based on their performance on the Billboard charts. According to Billboard, the process takes into account "key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement, [as] tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound."
