Keith Urban is set to open the ACM Awards ceremony on Sunday with Eric Church, but someone important will be missing from the audience.

“She’s working. She’s bummed out,” he tells Taste of Country of his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. “She’s in Australia, of all places, shooting a film, so I’ve been commuting backward and forward every week during Idol. It’s been quite the commute. I fly to L.A., do Idol and fly straight back down again.”

Urban and Church haven't announced what song they'll be performing together, but they released the music video for their song "Raise 'Em Up" earlier this month. In addition to performing, Urban is also up for Video of the Year for "Cop Car."

The Australian-born singer has been working on a new album and he says that tries to enter each new album with a totally fresh perspective, finding inspiration everywhere.

“It’s just always, everything’s clean slate. Every album is just, go in and record songs I love, that resonate with me, and get ‘em captured honestly. That’s it,” he shares. “I absorb a lot of stuff, especially traveling as much as I do. I have the Shazam app on my phone, and I Shazam stuff all the time with this eclectic array of music, and find influences from just everywhere to take with me into the studio.”

After his ACM appearance, Urban is also scheduled to perform at the 2015 Taste of Country Festival and Country Jam.
