Shortly after ABC revealed that it was cancelling Nashville, the show's production company, Lionsgate, began looking for a new outlet for the beloved TV drama -- and according to executives, it's been going quite well.

Variety reports that on Thursday morning (May 26), during an earnings call, Lionsgate executives told reporters that "four to five different platforms" have expressed interest in picking up Nashville for an additional season -- all "inbound inquiries coming directly to us, asking about the possibility of moving the show."

“The fans and everyone else is clamoring for many more seasons,” Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s head of TV, says, adding that, right now, they're not looking too far into the future, focusing instead on simply making Season 5 happen.

"These kinds of shows can go forever and ever — obviously that’s our hope and expectation, but we’ve [got] to do it one season at a time. So right now, we’re all about Season 5," Beggs continues. "So we hope to land Season 5 and keep talking about this show for years to come.”

Lionsgate has long-term deals with Nashville's castmembers, Beggs confirms, and points to the decision to hire Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz as Season 5's showrunners (prior to ABC's decision to cancel) as a sign of "long-term viability for the show."

Meanwhile, fans have been lobbying to save Nashville through an online petition and a #BringBackNashville hashtag campaign. The show's Season 4 finale -- for now, its series finale -- aired on Wednesday (May 25).
