5 Things You Might Not Know About Morgan Wallen
Since the release of "Up Down," his breakout single featuring Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen has been making waves in country music. With only a few years in the business, some might say that success happened overnight -- but in truth, it's taken Wallen quite some time, and a heavy does of hard work, to get here.
Born in Sneedville, Tenn., outside of Knoxville, Wallen grew up loving and performing music, but it was sports that he always thought would be his career. An avid lover of "any kind of ball," Wallen focused on baseball through his high school years at Gibbs High School (Kenny Chesney is also an alum!) and even went so far as to earn himself an offer to continue playing in college. It wasn't until a pitching accident forced Wallen to hang up his mitt that he found his calling in music.
In 2014, Wallen made his breakout appearance on The Voice. And although he was eliminated from Adam Levine's team during the Playoffs round, Wallen's songwriting and performing fate had already been sealed. After moving to Nashville in 2015, things really took off, with the young country singer inking a deal with Big Loud Records, recording with well-known producer Joey Moi and hitting the road for his first radio tour.
By the end of 2016, Wallen had released his first single, "The Way I Talk," and an EP of the same name while gearing up for an even bigger 2017. After hitting it off during a writing session, Wallen took Florida Georgia Line up on their offer to tour with them in 2017, joining the CMA Awards-winning duo for select dates during their Dig Your Roots Tour ... and FGL's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley returned the favor by lending their voices to Wallen's "Up Down."
