Who Is Heather Morgan? 5 Things You Need to Know
Nashville songwriter Heather Morgan tried something new in 2018 when she decided to branch out and explore her own identity as an artist; the result was her debut album, Borrowed Heart. Although releasing music of her own was always something Morgan wanted to do, it took a combination of confidence, mentorship and the right batch of songs to produce her first project.
A Texas native, Morgan attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth before moving to Nashville to launch her career. She has been a prominent songwriter since 2014, when she netted her first No. 1 hit with Brett Eldredge's "Beat of the Music." Morgan has written for some of country music's hottest artists, including Cole Swindell, Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Kenny Chesney, along with numerous others, and was awarded BMI's 2015 Song of the Year.
Her career was in full swing by the time she met Paul Moak, in the fall of 2015, at his Nashville studio. Moak would go on to serve as one of Morgan's mentors and co-writers, as well as the producer of Borrowed Heart. The new album, which includes the single "Your Hurricane," came out in October.
