Born in Cleveland, Ohio, raised in Atlanta, Ga., and a current resident of Nashville, Emily Hackett is a storyteller at her core. A fearless songwriter, Hackett has made a name for herself with a fresh take on country music that blends her knack for honest lyrics, soulful vocals and just a touch of outlaw spunk.

Although she may seem new on the scene, Hackett has actually been releasing original music for more than three years. In 2014, she released a first dance-ready track, "Take My Hand (The Wedding Song)," with fellow Nashville musician Will Anderson; the song's music video has nearly 19 million views on YouTube, and Hackett sells its sheet music on her website because she receives so many requests for it. She followed it up in July of 2015 with her first set of self-penned tracks, The Raw EP; the six-track project highlights Hackett's raw lyricism with sparse melodies, revealing a performer who can create layered and dynamic music with the most stripped-down style.

Fast forward to 2018, and Hackett has diverged a bit from the acoustic stylings of The Raw EP. In August of 2017, she released the radio-ready single "Nostalgia," a pop-powered anthem about looking back in order to move forward. And while the song's contemporary sound seems a world away from the tracks on her debut EP, its whip-smart and witty lyrics shine with Hackett's unique brand of songwriting all the way. Ultimately, the track reveals an artist who is just as daring as she is diverse.
