Whitney Duncan Joins Cast of ‘Survivor: South Pacific’

Country music sweetheart Whitney Duncan is taking a break from her music career to spend some time on a deserted island. The 27-year-old is joining the cast for the 23rd season of the grueling reality TV show, 'Survivor: South Pacific,' where she will battle against 17 other contestants to take home the prize of $1 million.

"I'm not super deceptive in my normal life. I have the problem of laughing when I lie so we'll see how that turns out," the singer admits to XfinityTV.com. "But I think for a million dollars, you can lie and not feel too bad about it. And my fans and my family know me and know I'm a good person, so I don't think they'll care."

The former 'Nashville Star' contestant admits she will do whatever it takes to come home with the jackpot -- even if it means batting her eyelashes at the male contestants. "Heck yeah!" she insists. "I have a boyfriend, but let's be honest, if I come home with a million dollars he's not going to care if I flirted here or there. It's completely harmless."

The Tennessee native has no plans of abandoning her singing career, however. "I grew up knowing really early on that that's what I wanted to do, so that's all I've ever done," says the songbird. "I went to Nashville when I was fifteen. I got my first record deal at seventeen. I just released my first record last April and am currently working on a new one."

Whitney also continues to hold out hope in the disappearance of her cousin, Holly Bobo, who was abducted from her home in April and is still missing.

"Please pray for her and our family. This is really sad and shocking," the singer-songwriter shared after learning of her cousin's disappearance. "Lord have mercy ... I feel like I'm walking in a nightmare. Thanks for all the prayers and please keep spreading the Amber Alert."

'Survivor: South Pacific' kicks off on Wednesday, September 14, at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
