Wes-Tone, a winner of the 2015 GRAMMY Amplifier contest, has released a new single, "Diamond in the Rough."

The singer wrote the emotional tune himself, but he had a slew of talented people behind the finished product. "Diamond in the Rough," which you can listen to below, was produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Ben Fowler (Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift) and also features singer-songwriter Danielle Diamond, who inspired the lyrics.

"We just wrote love songs back and forth to one another," Wes-Tone says with a laugh in the above behind-the-scenes video.

His insightful and poetic lyrics, coupled with strong vocals, are indicative of his talent: "I've come to the end of my road / No fork, no sign to point the way to go / It seemed to come to a dead end / I had nothing and no friend," he sings in the first verse.

Wes-Tone was chosen as one of this year's winners by GRAMMY Amplifier ambassador Mark Ronson and this year's program curators. The Band Perry, Ziggy Marley and singer/songwriter Allen Stone helped narrow a field of 25 contestants down to three winners. Wes-Tone received a recording session with a GRAMMY-winning producer, while another winner had the opportunity to film and star in their own music video with an experienced director, and the final winner earned a slot as the opening act for an established artist as part of a tour or music festival.

The GRAMMY Amplifier program is a partnership between Hyundai and the Recording Academy. It was created to foster talent in aspiring singers, songwriters and musical artists and give them a platform to perform for potential new fans.
