WE Fest 2016 Lineup: Steven Tyler
Steven Tyler is one of the most acclaimed rock 'n' roll frontmen of all time, but he's turning his attention to country music for a new tour that includes a much-anticipated slot at WE Fest 2016.
The flamboyant rocker shot to fame in the 1970s as the lead singer and frontman for Aerosmith, a band whose offstage excesses were almost as legendary as the music they created. Tyler gave some of the signature vocal performances of the era on a string of classic hits that includes "Dream On," "Sweet Emotion," "Walk This Way" and many more.
Nicknamed "the Demon of Screamin'" for his enormous vocal range and the signature yelps and screams he brings to his performances, Tyler returned from a stint in rehab in the '80s to lead Aerosmith back to superstardom with albums including Permanent Vacation, Pump, Get a Grip and Nine Lives. Tyler was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 as a member of Aerosmith.
In more recent years the rocker has penned an autobiography, served as a judge on American Idol and has kept a high media profile due to his irrepressible wit and sense of style. He signed a deal with Dot Records in 2015 and announced that he was working on a country-based solo album. He has released two singles so far, "Love Is Your Name" and "Red, White & You," and will release his full-length album, We're All Somebody From Somewhere, on July 15.
Tyler will bring songs from that album and Aerosmith classics to WE Fest 2016 when he hits the stage on Saturday night (Aug. 6) with his new band, Loving Mary. The massive country music and camping festival takes place Aug. 4-6 in Detroit Lakes, Minn., and features headliners Kid Rock, Eric Church and Tim McGraw, as well as a daily lineup of the hottest stars and up-and-coming artists in country music.
