Tracy Lawrence rallied the local Nashville community in the spirit of Thanksgiving with his eighth annual Mission Possible turkey fry on Tuesday (Nov. 26). This year's turkey fry supplied more than 500 turkeys to feed those in need.

The yearly event takes place at the Nashville Rescue Misson, which provides a critical set of services in the Nashville community. "The Nashville Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered community dedicated to helping the hungry, homeless and hurting," the Mission's website states. "We strive to restore hope and transform lives by offering programs that focus on spiritual growth, education, employment and life-recovery."

The singer-songwriter, whose hits include 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are,' 'Paint Me a Birmingham' and 'Time Marches On,' was joined by other members of the Nashville music scene, including the Roys, Chad Warrix, Rick Huckaby and Rachel Bradshaw. Members of the Tennessee Titans, the Titans cheerleaders and the US Coast Guard were also on hand.

This year's Mission Possible proved a bit more challenging than usual, with winter weather coming unusually early to Music City. “The real heroes are the volunteers,” Lawrence states. “I am so humbled each year by the outpouring of support from the community, to the sponsors and volunteers that stood in freezing rain to cook turkeys giving back to others in need. It's a wonderful feeling."
