Trace AdkinsTrace Adkins' heartfelt ballad 'You're Gonna Miss This,' written by Ashley Gorley and Lee Thomas Miller, took home Song of the Year honors at the ASCAP Awards in Nashville this week. Trace also won the 2009 ACM Single of the Year trophy for his recording of the song, which went to No. 1 on the country charts, becoming the singer's most successful hit to date.

No one was more surprised about all of this success than Trace himself. 'You're Gonna Miss This' was not originally meant to be a single -- only a bonus track on his 'Greatest Hits: Volume II' album. Besides, he's never been a big fan of songs that make you reach for a tissue. Trace is perhaps better known for fun, novelty hits like 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' and 'One Hot Mama.' But now that he's banked on a ballad, have the floodgates opened for more sentimental songs from the six-foot-six star?

"No!" he adamantly tells The Boot, with a laugh and a shake of his head. "I don't intend to do any more than I normally do. We're in the middle of working on this next album, and I can't see more than two ballads being on this next one."

Trace's current single is 'All I Ask for Anymore' (another ballad!). There's no word yet on when this next album full of uptempo songs is expected.
