Trace Adkins Leaves Rehab Due to Father’s Illness
Trace Adkins has reportedly departed from rehab, just two weeks after checking himself in.
According to TMZ, the country star left the facility to be with his father, who the gossip site reports has fallen seriously ill. The story states that Adkins felt he had no choice but to leave treatment and go to his father's bedside to be with him.
Adkins entered the facility after falling off the wagon during the recent Country Cruising musical cruise. He was the scheduled headliner on the cruise, which ran from Jan. 12-19. According to reports, the singer was involved in a confrontation with a Trace Adkins impersonator in the ship’s bar after taking his first drink in a dozen years. The singer opted to cancel his appearance, and departed for rehab as soon as the ship docked in Jamaica.
TMZ's source says that once his father's health issues are resolved, the 52-year-old singer will decide whether to return to an in-patient program, or seek out-patient therapy. In the meantime, he has asked his therapists in Florida to put him in contact with counseling resources near his father.
Adkins had a show scheduled for Feb. 18 at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. His website's tour schedule no longer lists that performance, showing a clear schedule until May 30, when he is slated to perform at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Miss.
