Toby Keith’s Restaurant Among Top 25 Celebrity-Owned Eateries

Singer and restaurateur Toby Keith has joined an elite group of celebrity businessmen and women being recognized for their popular eating establishments. Culinary website the Daily Meal has compiled their list of the 25 Best Celebrity-Owned Restaurants, putting the Oklahoma native in the company of such luminaries as Robert DeNiro, Michael Jordan, Robert Redford, Justin Timberlake and Gladys Knight.

Placing the Oklahoma City location of Toby's I Love This Bar & Grill at No. 22 on the list, the website notes the location features "high ceilings, large neon beer bottles, and oversized pictures of Keith with his patriotic guitar held above his head," and cites favorites on the menu including "St. Louis ribs, chicken fried steak, meatloaf, and sandwiches made with cheese, steak, chicken, and fish."

The site also recommends special features of the venue, in particular the calf fries (hand-breaded and deep fried with spicy, horseradish cocktail sauce) and the fried bologna sandwich (with barbecue sauce, Jack, Cheddar, lettuce, and tomato). Scores for the food, decor and service totaled 51, with the No. 1 eatery, skateboarder Tony Hawk's Market Bar and Grill, earning a score of 77.

Hopefully, the inclusion of Toby's establishment on the list is good news for the entrepreneur, after a recent run of bad luck in the last couple of weeks. Toby's Del Mar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., was the site of a devastating fire which destroyed the club's pool house, causing an estimated $75,000 worth of damage. The fire occurred just one week after a robbery at the club, during which a man approached an unattended register and helped himself to an undisclosed amount of cash before escaping unnoticed.

Toby opened the Oklahoma City location of his I Love This Bar and Grill in 2005. He now has other restaurants located in Tulsa, Las Vegas and Denver, as well as Minnesota, Michigan and Massachusetts. The restaurants are named after the superstar's 2003 No. hit, 'I Love This Bar.'
