While much of the nation is longing for cooler temperatures, after a record-breaking heat wave overstayed its welcome all across the country, Tim McGraw is actually enjoying the sweltering weather -- even though most of his concerts are in outdoor amphitheaters.

"The thought of being inside in the air conditioning and performing music just doesn't add up for me," he tells the Oklahoman. "The hotter, the better for me. And the audience usually wears less, which is good," he jokes.

All kidding aside, the multi-platinum selling singer, who can be found on stage this summer sporting his typical concert attire of jeans and a t-shirt, plus a newly-acquired foot cast, is pouring all his energy into his live performances, all the more so since many of his concerts are being broadcast live through Sirius XM Radio.

"It's pretty wild knowing that your music is going all over the world, especially when you're used to playing in front of 20,000 fans," Tim notes. "It's a pretty cool concept. And it allows fans to hear songs off the new album."

The 44-year-old is playing tunes from his next CD, 'Emotional Traffic,' even though the project has yet to be released, thanks to an ongoing legal battle with his label, Curb Records. "I'd love for the album to be out, but I can't do anything about it," the husband of Faith Hill acknowledges. "You wouldn't think after all the successes we've had together over 20 years that it would come down to this."

Not that he is letting the dispute sideline his soaring career. A bona fide movie star, whose credits include the Oscar-winning film, 'Blind Side' and 'Country Strong' next stars opposite William H. Macy, Milla Jovovich and Dwight Yoakam in the upcoming flick, 'Dirty Girl' which will hit theaters this fall. The movie, which was filmed in 2010, was a poignant reminder to the tunesmith of the dichotomy between both facets of his career.

"You almost forget what you did," he concedes. "I have so many things happening. I have three daughters and my career and my wife's career that you move on. I'm so used to being in charge of what I do musically. But when you do a film it's all out of your hands."

'Dirty Girl' will hit theaters on October 7. Meanwhile, Tim spend the next few weeks wrapping up his Emotional Traffic tour, which heads to North Carolina tonight (August 11), followed by stops in Ohio and Virginia. See his itinerary here.
