Tim McGraw released his latest album, ‘Two Lanes of Freedom,’ earlier this year, and has already said he’s working on another set of tunes to hit shelves in 2014. Still, while the Louisiana native is busy in the studio churning out the hits, he admits there’s another kind of record he hopes to complete in the future.

“I think more than anything that I would love just to go in and camp out at a club somewhere and make a live record,” McGraw says (quote via Taste of Country). “I think that’s something that I would like to do.”

The 46-year-old also has his eye on another album, which would pay homage to some of his own musical heroes. “I love ‘70s rock,” he notes. “I grew up listening to it. But on the other hand, I love Merle Haggard. I love George Strait. I’m sure one of these days, that there’s something that I would probably do. If I could do my favorite songs of all times in every genre, yeah I would love to do that. But I don’t think it’s the time to do that yet.”

McGraw will have to put any new projects on hold for a little while. He will spend much of the next few months on the road for his Two Lanes of Freedom tour, which includes stops in Oregon, New York and Kansas, as well as a few Canadian shows. See all of his upcoming concerts here.
