Taylor Swift, ‘Lorax’ Star Thanks Dr. Seuss for Love of Words

Taylor Swift's voice has been at the forefront of her three adventurous CDs and now the singer is lending her voice to a big-screen adventure as well. The 22-year-old will voice the role of Audrey in next month's 3D movie adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic, 'The Lorax,' which she says is actually a providential full-circle moment for her.

"Dr. Seuss books were a huge, huge part of my childhood," Taylor shares on the 'Today Show.' "It really made me fall in love with the way words fall off the page if you get them in the right syncopation and put them in the right order with the right rhymes at the end. And then that later became poetry and that became songwriting. I think I was very inspired with what Dr. Seuss was able to do with words."

The Pennsylvania native marvels that her real life is reflected in the role she voices for the film. "It was really amazing that the character ended up being a girl who was obsessed with trees because I grew up on a Christmas tree farm," she notes. "I loved nature, I'm obsessed with going on hikes and walks ... that's sort of part of my life I can really relate to."

The singer-songwriter, who took home two Grammy Awards on Sunday (for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance, both for her self-penned hit, 'Mean'), says she hopes her fans continue to grow with her, as her songs mature from the teenaged topics she wrote about when she first hit the airwaves six years ago.

"Hopefully it becomes a natural evolution of songwriting," she concedes. "I'm never going to have the moment where, 'I'm a woman now, guys. I'm only going to write dark songs, and I'm going to dance in my bra all the time.' That's not really me. I hope things will gradually evolve into growing up as people naturally grow up. I find 22 is an age where a lot of times artists feel like they need to be like, 'I'm a woman now guys,' but I feel like it should happen naturally for me."

The blond beauty, who graces the cover of this month's Vogue magazine, has also been a tabloid mainstay recently, thanks to a rumored new romance with her 'The Lorax' co-star, Zac Efron. But while Taylor denies there is any love connection between them, she also insists the rumors can swirl all they want.

"I've just kind of come to terms that [rumors come] along with the life I've chosen," she shares. "I absolutely love making music and getting to do wonderful things, like being in this film and this whole thing. There's a price that comes with everything good in your life."

'The Lorax' isn't the only movie where fans can hear Taylor's voice next month. She also lends her vocals to a song she recorded with the Civil Wars on the highly-anticipated flick, 'Hunger Games,' which hits theaters on March 23.

'The Lorax,' which also stars Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and Rob Riggle, will be released nationwide on March 2. Find showtimes and ticket availability here.
