It's safe to assume Taylor Swift will perform her hot new single, 'Mine,' when she takes the stage at tonight's MTV VMA Awards, right? Maybe not. Billboard is reporting that the country superstar will debut a new song she wrote about what was arguably the biggest controversy in MTV VMA history -- when Kanye West hijacked the microphone during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video last year, insisting that Beyonce should have won.

A source tells Billboard that Taylor rehearsed the Kanye-inspired tune Friday during a secret VMA rehearsal. The song will reportedly appear on her highly-anticipated third studio album, 'Speak Now,' due in stores October 25.

The MTV VMA Awards air tonight, September 12, at 9:00 PM ET. Taylor is up for Best Female Video again, this time for 'Fifteen.' She's nominated alongside Beyonce for 'Video Phone' featuring Lady Gaga, Ke$ha for 'Tik Tok,' Katy Perry for 'California Gurls,' and Lady Gaga for 'Bad Romance.' Gaga leads this year's nominations with a record 13; read the full list of nominees here.
