Taylor Swift, who has sold well in excess of 20 million albums and toured the world to widespread acclaim, could easily afford to buy the people on her Christmas list whatever they want for the holidays. But the 22-year-old says she tries to put plenty of thought into each gift she gives.

"I like to get my friends gifts that show that I really know them," the superstar shares with People. "If one of my friends says something about wanting something, I'll write it down and get that for them for Christmas."

The reigning Billboard Woman of the Year will put her career aside for a few weeks and spend time with her immediate family, which will include one time-honored tradition -- decorating their Christmas tree with ornaments she and her brother, Austin, created as children. "It's so nostalgic," she explains, "looking back at all the Christmases past and comparing them to how different our lives are now."

Different, indeed. Taylor recently wrapped her Speak Now world tour for the year and will head out for a series of shows overseas in 2012. She says one of her proudest accomplishments the past year was the success of her new fragrance, Wonderstruck.

"It turned out to be something I wear every day, and I'm so proud of how well it's done," she notes. "I love it when people come up to me and tell me they wear it every day."

Even though the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year will spend a few weeks away from the spotlight, she's still thinking of her fans, especially during this festive season. "I hope that they're happy, wherever they are ... [that] they feel loved by the people around them," she notes. "And most of all I hope they feel appreciated by me. My life would look nothing like this without them."

In addition to spending time with her loved ones, Taylor will also put the finishing touches on a new album while she's off the road. Her shows in Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to begin in March. Keep track of her concert schedule here.
